Pro Tips
Moving can be very stressful and painful when poorly prepared. whether it's your first or twentieth move, the question always arises: How can you best prepare for your move?
That's why we've developed a checklist that includes tips from professionals to help you minimize your expenses.

Predict the unpredictable
Does your fridge fit through the front door? Maybe the doors need to be taken apart. You could disassemble the doors yourself to save time, otherwise, we would be happy to do it for you!
What about your three-seater couch? Does it fit through the stairs, and halls of your new home?

Say goodbye to unsed stuff
Donate or sell unwanted furniture! Get rid of the clunky furniture you won’t be using in the new home. Clean out your closet! Have you worn those jeans in the past year? No? then it’s probably not something you need to keep.
By eliminating unworn clothes, out-of-date futons, your move will be a hundred times faster, and therefore cheaper – believe us. You won’t have to pack as many boxes, and you could make some money in the process! Not to mention, it just feels so good to declutter and start fresh in a new home.

Heads up! this elevator is reserved for a move.
Do not forget to reserve the elevator of your building! Warn the building management as far in advance before your actual moving date. Do not leave it for the last minute as you risk the elevators getting booked for the date of your move.

Pack the basics yourself
Get sufficient quantities of packing materials and pack your items a little everyday: this way you won’t feel overwhelmed.
It is important to TAPE and protect the bottom of your boxes with a blanket, cloth or sheet.

Be ready in both your current and destination locations — you may need to arrange for street parking and maybe even snow removal.
Is your street large enough for a 20ft truck? Does it have a bike path that could block us from having direct access to the front door? Does it have multiple lanes to avoid blocking all other cars?

Save time and money
If you can, empty your basement and bring the articles to the ground floor.
Move as many small items as possible by yourself or group them in boxes.
Take steps for a smooth moving day, have everything ready-to-go when the movers arrive. You will save time and money.
